JEE Mains 2025: Updates by NTA, Marking Scheme, Exam Format, Exam Dates, and Application

Students who are preparing for the JEE Mains 2025 have to know the important changes and updates that have been made. NTA has released the new JEE exam pattern on their official website, nta.ac.in

The NTA notification for JEE Mains 2025 confirms that the exam will  be held in two sessions – January and April 2025. Applications 

The Applications for JEE Mains starts from 28th October 2024 – 22nd November 2024, until 9:00 PM.

The deadline for fee payment is set for November 22, 2024.

Exam Sessions 

The First Session will be held between 22 January 2025 and 31 January 2025. The Second Session will be held between 1st April 2025 and 8st April 2025. 

These sessions will be held in 2 shifts – morning and evening. 

Admit Card and Announcement of Exam Center

The admit card for JEE Mains 2025 will be released 3 days before the exam and the announcement of the examination centre will be given by the first week of January 2025. 

Exam Structure  

JEE Mains consists of 3 papers – Paper 1 for B.E/B.Tech students, Paper 2A for B.Arch and Paper 2B for B.Planning Students. It will be conducted in 13 different languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odisha, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Paper 1

Paper 2A

Paper 2A is for B.Arch and consists of 3 subjects – Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing Test. The exam is computer-based, with a pen-and-paper mode for the drawing section. This exam is also for 3 hours (4 hours for PwD Students).

Paper 2B

New Updates 

The NTA has updated the marking scheme for the year 2025. For each correct answer, students will be given 4 marks. There is negative marking for the wrong answers, making it a -1 for each wrong answer. There will be no change in marking if the question is left unanswered. 

There has also been a change in the number of compulsory and optional questions for the year 2025. It is as follows –
